Hello and thank you for checking out this letter! Whether you’ve been assigned to write for me, are snooping around for possible treats or swaps or are here by mistake having clicked on the wrong link, thank you!

My AO3 is Twilfitt6 if you want to get a better idea of what flavour of freak I am and what I tend to write!

Fandom promo!

Not a day goes by I don’t think of the weird homoerotic selfcesty codependent girl friendship tv monologue from 2007. There’s a link to the fandom promo. Watch it. Be consumed by it for all eternity. Start obsessively creating fanwork for it like I did when I was 15, and then gift that fanwork to me, thank you very much.

So yeah I’d prefer nothing with any archive warnings for these girls (and their Dalmatians) but I am alright with references to mental health issues and to suicide especially around the character of Geraldine and her family.

For this request I’m interested in either relationship focused work between Mary and Geraldine (either / or &) or work solely focused on Mary. Included below are some thoughts on Mary and Geraldine I composed last year.

Mary Gilbert / Geraldine

 

One thing that would be so cool to see is Geraldine’s side of things, how does she see Mary and how does that differ from how Mary sees herself? Also some interpretation of them as reflections of each other, they’re both played by the same actress after all. But more than all of that I want them to be doomed lovers, forever destined to misunderstand each other and to never see each other again. That goodbye is so bittersweet and so perfect it just really makes me want to see what these two have had before that point. I’d love to see them struggling with their identities and this whole comphet thing they both end up embroiled in. Also post canon would be fun, we see how Mary is haunted by her past and what-ifs but what about Geraldine? And how does Mary feel about Geraldine as an older woman, do they ever meet again?

 

HEDDA GABLER - IBSEN

Hedda Gabler, Ejlert Løvborg, Thea Elvsted, Jørgen Tesman

Completely disregard the suicide trigger warning for this one as this play is pretty much nothing if you take out the suicide and I am always fascinated by Hedda’s devotion to this idea of a beautiful death and this beauty she sees in destruction. I still don’t want anything regarding self-harm though. I’ve loved this play for such a long time and I think there’s so much potential in these character relationships that should be explored either in a snippy way or a platonic way. For fellow Hedda fans out there (Hedda-heads maybe?) my favourite productions are the 1975 filmed RSC one (here’s a link to it on YouTube) and the 2016 National Theatre production (which is what got me into the play in the first place). I am also fine with receiving fic that’s just based off the playscript though. Anyway for this fandom I’d be especially interested in queer interpretations of the characters but also I’d rather not have them labelled with modern identities and also don’t want any arm-chair diagnosing of the characters, especially Hedda. Oh and last point, pet peeve I’d rather have the characters with their original Norwegian names (Ejlert, Jørgen) than the anglicisations that some scripts use (Eilert, George) but it’s not the end of the world if you do.

 

Hedda/ Thea/ Ejlert/ Jørgen

 

Ok I don’t think polyamory is going to save them but I think they should give it ago anyway. I just love this silly little love triangle that Jørgen has somehow squeezed his way in the middle of. I didn’t nominate Brack because I didn’t have enough character slots and he isn’t my favourite but if you want to throw him in there too, the more the merrier. I think Hedda should get to sleep with Thea and Jørgen should get to sleep with Ejlert and spend all the time talking about how great he thinks his book is. I’d just be fascinated about how those dynamics between the four of them could work. I’d just like to lock the doors of that house with them all stuck inside and see what happens (I mean what’d probably happen is Hedda would burn it down but yeah that doesn’t help character development). I don’t think they should sort out their problems, maybe they could just take them out on each other, that’d be fun.

 

Hedda/ Thea

 

Ok I have a lot of thoughts on this and I love the idea of Hedda as bisexual and sapphic and interpreting her relationship with Thea through this. Like Hedda’s been places, she’s done stuff, she’s spent her time riding horses and shooting guns and being the mean masc lesbian of our collective dreams while Thea’s been stuck in her own haunted house with this husband she has nothing in common with, like Thea’s run off to be with Ejlert but maybe she can hook up with Hedda along the way. Let them have their Red Wine Supernova moment together. I think there’s some interesting kink dynamics that could be explored here, like Hedda clearly has this thing for power and control (and guns) while Thea seems to find herself drawn to broken people she wants to fix. I’m not exactly someone who loves a sickly sweet happy ending but maybe these two deserve to run off into the sunset together.

 

Hedda & Jørgen

 

Ok I’m tagging this as “&” because even though they’re married this is definitely not a romantic attachment and I wouldn’t be that interested in an exploration of it as such. I’m just fascinated by this marriage, the way Hedda’s sort of settled down and compromised into this boring life, but I’m also interested in Jørgen side of it, like is he as blind as he appears, does he truly love Hedda enough to ignore that she doesn’t feel the same or is this very much a marriage of compromise for him as well. Is he marrying her to establish a place in society in hopes of getting a good university job, or is he getting something else out of it? Perhaps is this a lavender marriage, are they both comprising on marrying someone they’re not attracted to and probably won’t have sex with to cover up their own desires. Like in my mind Hedda’s probably had sexual experiences with both women and men while Jørgen’s probably more in the closet about his feelings, if he’s ever even realised them. I’d also be interested in seeing some pre-canon of there disastrous honeymoon across Europe or even some canon-divergence of what happens if Hedda doesn’t kill herself, what does their life look like ten years on? Are they still stuck in the same house, is Hedda still alone with no company and bored, does Jørgen have the job and the academic career he so craves? 

 

LUTHER (TV)

Alice Morgan, John Luther

I’m very much at the stage where I keep nominating this show more in the hope someone will just see it so much in tagsets they go off and watch it but if you are here because we’ve matched on it and your willing to write for it! Whoo! We’re going to be best friends forever now, let me yap your ear off about this cop show and these evil little murder blorbos

 

ALICE MORGAN

 

She is one of my favourite fictional characters of all time. She’s just so angry and impulsive and neurotic and I adore her and her complexities and relationships and the way she seems to rationalise her own actions. Mentions of her canonical suicide attempts are fine but I’d prefer if they’re not a central focus and it’s more about the actions themselves than the thought processes around them. Also canonical underage in her backstory is fine, again just don’t make it the main focus. Anyway I love this deranged bisexual, please feel free to make her as deranged and bisexual as possible!

 

JOHN LUTHER

 

He is so deeply stuck in his own head and busy thinking about the root of all good and evil and where he falls in that line it’s honestly a mystery how he has time to solve any murders. May come as a surprise as someone who loves procedurals but I’m not a big fan of casefic, like it can be done well and I will enjoy it, I just sometimes prefer to read about the characters internal issues and personal life than what their doing at work. I feel like the series covers well enough that aspect of John, I’d like to see more about his nuclear wasteland of a personal life, his failed marriage with Zoe, this psychosexual mind game he’s got going on with Alice, this little Welsh girl he’s suddenly adopted. Also I’ve written him as an autistic trans man before and if someone else sees the vision and writes that I will love you forever

 

JOHN LUTHER / ALICE MORGAN

 

The only straight people who have ever mattered (even if it’s a trans guy and a bi girl in my opinion) they are so fucked up and weird about each other, they really do match each others freak. I’d love anything that explores this unresolved sexual tension in the first few seasons (johns whole “i want you but I don’t want to want you” is *chefs kiss) or resolves that tension with some fucked up evil sex (I have used this term before to describe them, I still have no idea what I mean by it). I love these two and they belong together, even if that’s so they don’t subject anyone else with their obsessive toxic devotion.

SILO (TV)

Juliette Nichols, Shirley Campbell (Silo), Martha Walker

 For this request my gift may either feature all three chosen characters, just Jules and Shirley, just Jules and Martha or solely Jules. This is one of those shows that I just keep coming back to thinking about and pondering over but have never actually put pen to paper and written anything for. I'm especially interested in a lot of these female characters and these themes about independence and bodily autonomy and freedom and class warfare.

Also just to expand on my pregnancy DNW a little for this canon, I'm fine with canon-compliant fertility issues and forced birth control and all the trauma and issues that come with that and I'm also cool with characters other than the nominated characters being pregnant, I just really don't want my nominated characters as physically pregnant.

JULES & SHIRLEY & MARTHA

I love my mechanical found family, it is them keeping the Silo running and don't you ever forget that. Walk got the kids in the divorce I guess. I don't really have any cohesive ideas for this but if you do, you should write it down and gift it to me because that's what yuletides all about.

JULES & MARTHA

If I am here and not requesting some pseudo mother-daughter relationships then that is an evil clone, that is not me. Anyway so Walker was basically a mentor and parental figure to Jules and that's really interesting to me, also if you want to through in Jules's already traumatic relationship with both her father and her deceased mother. I'm just rotating the two of them in my mind, women in STEM are important and should be respected and I love and respect them.

JULES/SHIRLEY

Childhood best friends to lovers arc, it's coming, I'm manifesting it. Anyway there's yuri potential there I just know it. If you too see the vision, please get in touch, I want to know I'm not going insane. There's just something so spiritually butch4butch about two greasy sweaty coworkers who know everything about each other.

Blorbo. That's it. That's the notes. That aside, I love her, she's great and if you want to write anything centred around just her or a character study that's great with me. Put the character in situations, that's what I need. Also this whole hero worship that's forming around her in the silo in her absence is so interesting and fun to explore, even without her physically present how she manifests herself in the lives of those in mechanical and elsewhere in the silo

SHIRLEY

I love Shirley so much and I especially admire how they give her a gay-er and gay-er haircut each season, iconic. For this request I’ve only nominated Shirley because she’s my blorbo so I’d be interested in recieving solo character studies of her and her anger and her substance abuse issues or really about anything, you could have her going to the shops and buying groceries and I would applaud it. I’m also down if you want to write shipfic for her, for that any female character is fair game (I’ve been rotating in my mind having her meet Flyte and the yuri potential of that lately)
